random thoughts and scenes from the weekend

for the past month, month and a half, two months . . . er, ya know . . . for a while now, i’ve been eating a huge bowl of fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas for breakfast.

i love it.

i love it a lot.

i highly recommend it.

did you know if you take a load of towels straight from the dryer, shove them into a laundry basket and leave them for a spell ::cough:: or two ~ the towels will eventually mold into the shape of the laundry basket?

it’s like laundry art.

i’ve always been passionate about art.

i love that my nine year old folds the towels.

i love that he can laugh at me laughing at him for his precision in towel folding.

his towel folding is like an art.

obviously, he’s passionate about art, too.

it must be hereditary.

out of all of the shoes i own and adore, the ones that will always come first in my heart are my chucks.

i just can’t help it.

whenever we’re road tripping it, i usually put all of the children’s snack food in one big bag that i’m in charge of doling out whenever one of them gets hungry.

or grouchy.

i’m trying something new this time around.

i’m giving each member of the crew his own snack bag. he can eat whenever he wants without having to ask me to hand him something.

except, i’m not calling it a snack bag . . . i’m calling it the happy bag.

happy bags lead to happy bellies which lead to happy children. follow?

i love working out with my man.

it gives us time to talk.

about what books we’re readings. about our day. about whatever. or nothing at all.

what about you? any random thoughts from the weekend?

boba fett in the house

My third son turned nine this weekend. It was also nine years ago this weekend my mom received her first ever speeding ticket. There is a connection. ::snort::

I’m going to share something with y’all in the spirit of keepin’ it real.

His birthday totally caught me by surprise this year. I hadn’t planned anything. Anything.

I would like to thank Amazon dot com for providing me with an Amazon Prime membership and free two-day shipping. Neither of which were really free.

There was no wrapping paper at this birthday party. I simply handed him the Amazon dot com boxes and smiled.

I would also like to thank Kroger for providing a superb Chocolate Fudge cake. I’m told it was super moist and scrumptious. In fact, I’m slightly miffed he loved it so much. ::wink::

Birthday candles? Oh, right. I seem to never have those.

I found a number one candle I stuck on top of the cake and told him to pretend it was a number nine. Apparently, his imagination needs a little bit of work ‘cuz he was not seein’ a nine. ::snort::

So there y’all have it. I’m no super mom.

What do birthdays look like in your house?
