In between October and December 2011, I ran five 5Ks . . . . during the entire year of 2012, I only ran two 5ks. Laugh. Out. Loud! Obviously, it’s not my favorite distance.
This year I trained for and finished my first half-marathon then went on to run three more. I can honestly say I’ve grown to love the half-marathon distance.
I haven’t lost much in weight this year, but I’ve done a fantastic job of maintaining. In so many ways, maintaining is harder than losing, so I’m very pleased.
I’ve cheered my children on as they’ve run in races.

I’ve cheered for my man as he finished his second 100K of the year.

I flew out to Oregon and spent some wonderful time away with my man.

I ran into some storm troopers during a night on the town in the Spring. And if that wasn’t enough for a memorable night, I also thought fried calamari was basically a fried cheese stick. ::snort out loud::
So. Not. Joking.

I’ve watched my oldest son as he grows into a man. I’ve watched as my oldest daughter matures into a young lady. I’ve laughed at the antics of my baby. I’ve been amazed at the creativity of my budding LEGO designers.
I’ve made new friendships. I’ve deepened others.
I’ve experienced the full scope of emotions. I’ve learned new things. I’ve faced new challenges.
As I look back at this past year, there are several posts I’ve written that really stand out in my mind. They either took a lot out of me to write or I’ve seen them touch other people’s hearts and lives. The latter reason truly humbles me.
Couch to 1/2 Marathon in 7 Months, 2 Weeks & 2 Days – I think this post has been read more than any other post. I cried when I wrote it. I cried after I published it. If I went back and read it right now, I’d probably cry again. I’m not normally a weeper. I usually channel more Cameron Diaz, but . . . some things in life require waterworks.
31 Days to a Healthier Life – I have to include this series because – DUDE – it was hard! ::snort:: But, so worth it.
Being Healthy is So Much More – This post really puts things into perspective for me. I love that I’m living a healthier life. I love that I can do things now that I couldn’t do before. I just plain love it!
You CAN Do It – Yes, you can.
On a funny note, the top two posts pinned onto Pinterest from this blog have absolutely nothing to do with healthy living or running. They’re Frangelico Layered Bliss Cake and Bubblegum Machine Cake Pops.
I know. I know. These posts aren’t from 2012. They aren’t even from 2011. They’re from waaay back in 2010 and they come back on Pinterest to haunt me. ::snort::
It’s been a great year.

It’s such a daily battle. There are definitely days where I feel like the biggest hypocrite, but then I just have to pick myself up and press on.
P. S. Thank you so much for the feature this week. I had no idea!
