This recipe is not for you, if any of the following apply:
(A) You have an aversion to boxed cake mixes.
(B) Canned fruit causes you to break out in hives.
(C) You don’t like excessive amounts of sugar.
(D) Butter is not your friend.
For everyone else, this recipe is super-duper-duper-duper easy. My Aunt Beverly shared it with me. I died. Then, I licked my bowl clean. Now, I’m sharing it with you.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
2 (14.5 oz.) cans sliced peaches
1/2 C light brown sugar
1/4 C granulated sugar
1 stick butter
Here’s how you’ll make it:
1 ~ Pre-heat oven to 350. Spray a 9 x 13″ glass pan with Pam spray.
2 ~ Pour about half of the cake mix into the bottom of the pan. Spread out so the entire bottom is covered.
3 ~ Pour one can of un-drained peaches on top of the cake mix. Spread out the peaches as needed.
4 ~ Drain the second can of peaches and pour the peaches into the pan.
5 ~ Dump the rest of the cake mix on top ~ spreading it out.
6 ~ Using a fork, mix together the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a separate bowl. Sprinkle all over the top.
7 ~ Either melt the butter and drizzle over the top or slice the butter and spread out evenly over the top.
8 ~ Bake for about 35 – 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the aroma is just about to send you over the edge of sanity.
Serve hot with ice cream.
Also, don’t send hate mail after you find you’ve eaten the entire pan yourself.

I actually like canned peaches! I mean, I know they don’t taste like real peaches, but I like them for what they are.

*snort* <3 this comment!
I prefer to eat fresh peaches by themselves, but in a cobbler or pie I don’t mind using canned. It’s easier!

because i want to be nit-picky, do you use canned peaches in juice or the ones in heavy syrup?

I used the ones in 100% juice. Now, I’m wondering if I was supposed to use the ones in heavy syrup. I didn’t think to ask my Aunt that question. Hmmm . . . .

That looks amazing. I have a question—I may be needing to take product photos to list on etsy. Do you have any tips for me on getting the best photos. They are mostly card sets, journals and that type of thing with pressed flowers. You have great shots of your products.

My top two tips:
(1) Use two pieces of white poster board or foam board. I’ve upgraded to foam board ~ it works much better.
(2) Find the best location in your house by a window for natural light ~ kitchen? bedroom? etc.
I shared my *studio* awhile back where I take all of my Etsy shop photos.
Here’s the link for that:

How do you keep the background from looking gray. My white isn’t white, just a bluish gray. Maybe I should do a color background on purpose?

PS, any special camera settings? Did you use your 50mm?

Initial thoughts:
- What is your white balance set on?
- What is the *tone* of the room where you’re shooting? {i.e. color of the walls, etc.}
- Is there enough light where you’re shooting?
- Do you use photoshop? You could do a little bit of brightening.
Other stuff:
All the photos in my shop are shot with my 50 mm 1.4. I shoot in Manual mode with my ISO around 200 ~ maybe up t0 400 on occasion. I shoot with my aperture in between 2.8 and 3.5.
Also, I don’t think my photos are true white. I don’t think I could achieve that without the use of an actual light box.

Thanks, I will give it a go. I usually shoot in AP mode but I will venture back into manual and see what I come up with. I was shooting in manual for a little bit trying to get the hang of it, then I hung it up and may have forgotten a lot.
