Can you drive a stick? Well, of course. Can’t everyone?

Last person you spoke to on the phone? Um, I think Melissa some time yesterday. I could get up and check my phone, but that just feels like too much effort on a Sunday afternoon.

Have you ever dyed your hair? Nope. I used to get it highlighted. I recently tried to talk my hairstylist {Yo, Kim!} into coloring the grey hairs popping up and she talked me out of it. She would make a horrible salesman, which is why I totally {heart} her.

Favorite food? Mexican. Show me the guacamole and then step away.

When was the last time you cried? During one of the episodes of 24. Did I ever tell y’all how many times I cried during my 24 marathon watching? Four. Four times! And I’m not talking about a single tear traveling down your cheek that you wipe away with the sleeve of your shirt. I’m talkin’ about the ugly cry. Snot, hiccups, slight hyperventilating, dizziness, nausea. Ok. The last two I just made up. It sounded more dramatic.

What is on the floor of your closet right now? Shoes. Shoes. Aaaaand more shoes.

These are pictures I snapped last Thursday during an afternoon out with the crew.

I’m one of those moms who makes all her children hold hands while walking through the parking lot. I rock.

I got to hold this guy’s hand.

I told them to sit down on these stairs outside the movie theater. They stood there and just stared at the stairs. Laugh. Out. Loud! Do y’all see them staring?

They were thinking:

“Are you for real, Mom? Do you see what is on these steps? What is that stuff? That’s just disgusting. That’s what that is.”

No, really.

That is what they were thinking because those were pretty much their exact words.

And of course, I got my way. It’s one of the benefits of being a Mom.

His cuteness kills me. It just kills me.

Junior. Bless his heart. When I snapped this shot, he still wasn’t over the fact I made him sit in such an unsanitary place.

Whereas his younger brother, could care less. A lesson in opposites, folks. You’re welcome.

I treated them to dinner out at a local diner, The Purple Cow.

They have lots of purple stuff there . . . . like um, cows and whatnot.

I loaned my girl a pair of my earrings. She was over the moon.

The Purple Cow has really healthy drinks like this scrumptious purple milk shake. I highly recommend it.

They also offer these really healthy onions. I’m sure there are health benefits to eating them. I’m sure there are.

It’s purple inside The Purple Cow.

And there are famous people glued onto one of the purple walls.

And you know what? You’ll never guess what we saw on the ride home?

I know, right?! How weird is that?

Five {Random} Things I’m Thinking About Today

~ 1 ~ I’ve never known my husband when he wasn’t a father.

When we met, he was a single dad with three children and I was a single mother with one child. It was chaos from the beginning and it hasn’t stopped. As long as I’ve known him, he’s changed dirty diapers, wiped messy faces and tied tennis shoes. He’s kissed boo-boos, comforted children after a bad dream and given thorough tickle torture to very willing volunteers.

He’s a wonderful father.

Sometimes, I try to imagine what our life would have looked like if we had met prior to children. What would we have done with all of that spare time? Taken long bike rides? Lounged around in bed until the middle of the morning? Spontaneously taken weekend trips? Would we have been college sweethearts? {Of course, that could have only happened if he was like really, really, really slow getting through college. That whole 15 year age difference thing.}

As much fun as it is to imagine “What if?” . . . . . . . I truly love my life just the way it is.

~ 2 ~ I love my Dad.

I haven’t had a chance to tell him Happy Father’s Day yet. He’s a pilot and travels all around the world carrying cargo to different places ~ some cool and some not so cool.

What I’m thinking about today . . . . .

My father was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He said goodbye to college, his family and his friends in order to serve his country. He never talks about it. Ever. All I know is what my mother has told me in bits and pieces.

It breaks my heart to know my father has experienced something of that magnitude.

The trip he’s currently on right now brought him over the land of Vietnam. He had not flown over or seen that land in 40 years and 2 months.

Surreal.

~ 3 ~ Why do we have a hard time accepting the consequences of our actions? Can’t “I’m sorry!” be enough?

I’ve shared this quote before:

“Son, part of getting a second chance is taking responsibility for what you did wrong in the first place.” ~ Jack Bauer

I promise I won’t start talking ad nauseum about Jack Bauer. Although, I should.

It’s just such a good quote. So often we make mistakes, wrong decisions and bad choices {adults and children alike}. We say we’re sorry. And then we want to pick right back up where we left off. We’re offended if the consequences are still there ~ staring us in the face.

But, I said, “I’m sorry!” . . . . .

How many times have you heard your children say that? And how many times have you had to say, “I’m glad you’re sorry. I am. However, there are still consequences.”

Just something I’m thinking about today.

~ 4 ~ Clipping thread as you sew is so much easier than waiting until the project is done.

I started doing that this week. I’m now saving myself lots and lots of time. I’m a genius. Thank you.

~ 5 ~ Sometimes I think in hash tags.
