Random Q & A {Part II}

By about the fifth or so comment from y’all yesterday {referencing my humor}, I began to get curious.

That curiosity prompted this brief, albeit deep, discussion with my man last night.

Me: Do you think I’m funny?

Him: Sometimes.

Me: Like when?

Him: I don’t know . . . . . . {long pause} . . . . sometimes. Do you think I’m funny?

Me: No.

**Since a couple of the questions today were in reference to photography, I wanted to share some of my favorite shots.**

How’d you get your start into photography?

Let’s see. Hmmmm . . . . . After about a year or so of blogging, I started to become very jealous {apparently, I can’t just be happy for others} of all the beautiful photos floating around the blogosphere. I took the plunge and did something about it. I purchased my dSLR camera in April of 2009. It was love at first click.

Why do you like photography?

Excellent question. Why? Oh! Why, why, why?

I think this requires a tad bit of background information.

I’ve always been a person in love with artistic expression and creativity. My brain, I suppose, is somewhat wired that way. Growing up, I was not into photography. I loved to sketch and paint. By the time I was in high school, I was working on my portfolio for college. I had aspirations of being a commercial artist. Before I graduated, I was offered a partial-scholarship through the Art Department of a well-known Christian university. Emphasis on partial.

Out of state tuition being what it is {astronomical} it didn’t work out.

That dream just kind of . . . . slipped away.

I’m okay with that. Some plans are best not lived out. Mine was one of those.

However, I’m still wired the same way I was back then. I need a creative outlet. One besides cutting out construction paper or hot gluing a castle together. Photography has done that for me. It gives me an outlet to express myself artistically.

Have you ever been to Italy?

No, ma’am. I would love to go, though. My father-in-law is full-blooded Italian. His great-grandfather came over from Italy and worked as an indentured servant in an Alabama coal mine. I love hearing my husband tell that story!

I’ve been to lots of other places in Europe:

Paris
Luxembourg City
London
Runnymede
Edinburgh
Brussels
Bastogne
Metz
Cologne
Eisenach
Amsterdam
Madurodam
Munich
Berlin {Before the wall was down}
Dachau
Salzburg
Heidelberg
Lichtenstein
Interlochen
Athens
Ephesus
Tarsus

Ok. I’ll stop.

The joys of growing up a military brat. ;-)

If you could live anywhere in the United States, where would it be? Are you already living in your most favorite place in the US?

Actually, I love living where I’m at. I love Arkansas. It’s beautiful here, my family’s here, I met my husband here ~ it just feels like home.

There are lots of places I would love to visit in the States, though. I would love to one day say I’ve visited all 50 states!

I won’t talk about addictive shows. I’m addicted to one and I won’t be mentioning it since I…. well….. nevermind.

Girl! You can not leave a comment like that and not spill the beans. E-mail me. Pronto!

I’ve never been out of the U.S., but I was born and raised in Arkansas, so I started where you’ve ended. :-)

And now I’ll answer your Q&A with a question: Where did you get that precious pea pod wrap for the baby?

Gorgeous pics – and cool to hear some of your story. Where I relate – I’m married to the son of 2 Italian immigrants to Australia (he speaks an their old dialect too – he got laughed at in Italy for his “ancient” language :-) ); I’ve visited a number of the cities you listed, including Berlin AFTER the wall came down – oh, and I have naturally curly hair :-)

You can mark off one of the 50 states by visiting me at my house. Because I’m a helpful friend like that, always encouraging others to accomplish their dreams and blah blah blah.

My painting and sketching skills have really gone downhill since ye olde high school days. I think that is one of the reasons why I like photography so much. While I love creating, my creations don’t always end up like I envisioned. With photography, they sometimes end up BETTER than I could have dreamed! Love it.

PS I’ve saved up 75% of the fund-age for my D300s. Too chicken to attempt the D700, esp since I have no plans to make money with it. But I have an idea for ministry with it forming in my head!

Your pictures are amazing – worth 1,000 words. I love where we live ONLY because the people are so great! We tried moving, but couldn’t take them with us, so we had to come back … to the heart of Texas. Great folks here. :)
    Lovely blog.
