My {Slacker} Blissdom Recap

by Ruthanne on February 10, 2010

I realize that I should be writing up some uber-fabulous post full of snippets from my weekend away at Blissdom. But, let’s be honest ~ I’m a slacker. My brain is on overload and when it gets like this, I can’t focus on any one thing for very long. It amplifies my already apparent ADD blogging issues.

I’ll try not to be all over the place with this recap.

First things first {because I know y’all are just dying to know}, I did hand out the goodies I made. Every last one of them. I may have come across as a slight goober to a few people, but sometimes that just can’t be helped.

Melissa, Marsha and I carpooled to Nashville. We literally talked the entire drive there and back. They are so much fun and caused copious amounts of belly laughter from me. I have an entire blog post on Melissa to be published at a later date. It’s a list of Melissa-isms ~ quite entertaining stuff, y’all {and perhaps slightly scary, too}.

I tried to attach myself to Darcy. Sometimes she got away, but I always found her again. I’m good at that. :-)

I met some wonderful people:

Deanna ~ She’s my long lost sista. We bonded instantly. I love her. She dearly loves to laugh – just like me. She has naturally curly hair – just like me. She rocks the melodramatic – {repeat after me} just like me. Our friendship was always meant to be. You can find her blogging over at Domestic Chicky {love the name!}.

Karen ~ She has such a sweet spirit about her. You can’t miss her love for her family and her passion for what she does. You can find her blogging over at Mommy Matters Blog.

Toni ~ It’s the Happy Housewife, y’all! I just know I impressed her when I dumped coffee all over myself. Um, twice. {Insert eye roll.} You can find her blogging over at The Happy Housewife.

Edie ~ She brought some of her Mocha Cupcakes to hand out. Oh. My. Word. They were phenomenal. Not quite as awesome as she is, but close. Edie is such a breath of fresh air. She’s so . . . just so . . . well, real. I love her story, her passion for living and her transparency. I just plain love her. You can find her blogging at Life in Grace.

Angie ~ The woman has curly hair. Who knew? It’s gorgeous. She’s adorable. You can find her blogging over at The Arthur Clan and I Heart Faces.

Heather ~ She and her family bunked up in our guest room last week on their way to Nashville. She has the most adorable Southern accent. Seriously. You can find her blogging over at Sprittibee.

Boybarian Dad ~ I was able to meet the infamous Handyman, Darcy’s hubby. The guy is an absolute riot. He made me almost pee my pants from laughing so hard. Darcy has her hands full with that guy. For reals. There was a scary moment there when he demonstrated his favorite dance move. Um, I have no words.

Now, I just know I’m leaving people out. I hate that.

As to the conference itself, it was wonderful. Motivational speakers, well-known bloggers, photography and graphic design workshops ~ it all added up to fabulous. I would love the opportunity to go again next year.

If you want to see pictures, you can check out my Blissdom Flickr stream.

And now my brain is revolting. I need protein. Or chocolate. Or coffee. I’ll try and be back tomorrow with some pictures from the I {heart} Faces Nashville Photowalk.

Meeting you was one of the highlights for me too. If my hair curly hair looked like yours I wouldn’t spend so much time blowing it out!

Thanks for your wonderful encouragement on blended families and for letting me stick like glue to you girls for the first few days. I am a big chicken in social situations!

I hope to see you at the next Blissdom! I think attending Blog Conferences is going to be my newest addiction. Cannot wait to check out your photo stream!

Thank you for the post. Sounds like FUN! I was having a wee bit of withdrawl which then turned into maternal concern. Glad to know that you are fine and everything went well!

How did I accomplish that feat?

Hmmm . . . it was highly difficult. I barely survived. You wouldn’t want to try it at home.

Hi there,

I just HAD to pop over and check out who this girl was that Melissa was complaining about in regards to freezing photowalks :-)

LOVE your blog & pics, and will be bookmarking you to come back and visit.

Cheers,
Cate

Poor, Melissa. I do have quite a bit more “padding” than she does, so I stay warm! *snort*

what a complete blast that was! words just can’t do it justice. melissa-ism’s…. let me know when you wanna post it. she is so lively and hilarious. i think it would be impossible to not love her.

as to your superwoman pose, i was testing you. i figured that if i waited long enough, maybe there would be a meanie side to you. but there wasn’t… just laughter, kindness and fun. my cheeks hurt from laughing with you so much.

thanks for taking care of me, sharing your family and home and yummy bread with me (send me the recipe! or better yet, send me cowgirl princess and her possee!!!). my boys think your boys would be fun to play with– and they are!

I heart you. I heart everything about you. I wish we were neighbors or sisters. I… I… I like to start sentences with I.

Let’s try that again.

You are fabulous. You were one of my favorite parts of Blissdom. You would be reason enough to go.
