Thankful for {My Oldest}

When I sat down to type out this post, I literally stared at the screen with my fingers poised over the keys with nothing happening, watching as the minutes ticked by. Not that I couldn’t find anything to say. Rather, when I think about sharing about my oldest, my heart feels like its in a vice.

025-Edit-Edit

If you haven’t read my bio, then you may not know we’re a blended family. It’s not something I mention often. My oldest is from my very, very brief and fragile first marriage.

026-Edit

Two years ago this Christmas, he chose to go live with his biological father. And I chose to let him go. It hurt then and it hurts now. This is why you will rarely find posts focused on him. And that’s the last I’m going to share about that.

009-Edit

Instead, I’m going share some of the things about him I’m thankful for.

~ His zest for a challenge.

~ His love of communicating.

~ His sensitivity to others.

~ His desire to come alongside and help, even if it means the work will be hard.

~ His playfulness.

Wow. I can only imagine what it took to post this. He is a handsome young man, Ruthanne, and I am praying that the handsomeness on the outside will be worked into his heart as well through God's incredible work in his life. Thanks for sharing this.

And, how about a distractive and totally unrelated comment? I know the lady who designed the shirt he's wearing – a pastor's wife who lived right here in Monticello until just a few months ago. :-)

Sorry to repeat the above comments, but he really is handsome. And sensitive too! You're going to have to beat the girls away with a stick some day. : ) Seriously, thank you for sharing, and I'll be praying for your family too. (((hugs)))

He has an infectious smile! Just like mom!

That would be a hard thing to do– to let go. You are a great mom and a thankful spirit yields much joy. You are blessed!

    (((LOVE YOU!)))

You are one of the most thoughtful, loving and creative moms that I have had the privilege to get to know! Your family… ALL of them… are blessed to have you in their lives. He is such a handsome boy (the squeals and "Mom… scroll back up!" requests coming from my two teen daughters is proof of that! LOL)

You are very blessed! Praying for a new JOY to wash over you!
